This course examines the content, significance and specifics of managing warehouse operations and inventory accounting as functional areas of logistics, giving a fundamental understanding of the functions of the warehouse and inventories, and of the processes of managing material flows at the stages of warehousing and storage in the form of inventories.
The course «Organising the Warehouse and Inventory Accounting at a Modern Enterprise» is intended for beginning managers and logistics department staff, procurement department specialists and purchasing, distribution, sales and marketing managers, transport specialists, warehouse staff and inventory managers, and everyone wishing to gain a general understanding of warehouse operations and inventory management.
Day 1
Block 1 The warehouse as an element of the logistics system
The place of warehouses in the goods distribution chain. Overview of the warehouse services market in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Main functions and tasks of the warehouse. Classification of warehouses: A, B, C, D. The warehouse's interaction with other company units. Warehouse costs and determining them.
Block 2 Planning the warehouse and the warehouse cargo handling zones
Own or leased warehouse. Warehouse planning. Determining the type and size of the warehouse. Planning the main operational warehouse zones. Determining the main parameters of warehouse zones.
Block 3 Technical support of the warehouse process
Structural elements of the warehouse. Types of warehouse machinery and equipment. Warehouse racking systems. Optimal placement of racking equipment. Lifting and handling equipment, choosing the optimal options.
Block 4 Management goals and types of inventory in logistics systems
Basic concepts, goals and principles of inventory management. Classification of material inventories. Structure of the costs of creating and maintaining inventories. Capital costs, storage costs, current inventory servicing costs, the cost of inventory-related risks. Stock-out losses.
Day 2
Block 5 The classic model for calculating the optimal order (delivery) frequency (quantity): the EOQ model
Determining the optimal order quantity for replenishing stock: calculation and formulas, application examples. Modified variants of the model.
Block 6 Inventory management: the general scheme
Main inventory management parameters: demand parameters, order parameters, delivery parameters, stock level. The fixed order quantity inventory management system. The fixed order interval inventory management system.
Block 7 Approaches to managing inventories of materials of various nomenclature
The ABC analysis method in inventory management, its algorithm. The XYZ analysis method in inventory management, its algorithm. Procedure for applying the methods in inventory management, their mechanisms of use, a system of recommendations for carrying them out.
