Programme goal:
Training managers and specialists in the principles and methods of building a NON-FORMAL, risk-based environmental management system (EMS) in accordance with the international standard ISO 14001:2015, one that will genuinely help to reduce environmental risks and increase the company's resilience by covering the following areas in the training:
— Reducing environmental risks – minimising emissions, discharges and waste generation, reducing the likelihood of accidents and fines for violating environmental legislation
— Optimising the use of natural resources and energy – more efficient use of resources, cutting irrational expenses and costs
— Increasing the effectiveness of internal environmental monitoring – moving from formal control to a risk-based approach in planning and conducting internal audits of the EMS
— Compliance with the requirements of regulators and certification bodies – greater transparency, fewer nonconformities in environmental inspections and certification audits
— Supporting sustainable development and ESG goals – integrating environmental factors into management decisions and corporate strategy
— Improving the quality of planning and corporate decisions – introducing methods of analysing and managing environmental aspects based on quantitative risk assessment
Objectives:
— Examine the requirements of the ISO 14001:2015 standard
— Master methods of identifying, analysing and managing environmental aspects and risks based on ISO 31010
— Learn to apply algorithmic analysis tools (SWOT, PEST, «Porter's 5 Forces») to define the organisation's environmental context
— Develop a risk-based model of business processes taking environmental factors into account
— Study methods of quantitative assessment of environmental risks (Monte Carlo simulation, the scoring model, the Tornado diagram)
— Build a system of KPIs (by process) and environmental KRIs (key risk indicators)
— Understand how to plan and conduct a risk-based internal audit of the EMS (ISO 19011)
— Consolidate the knowledge gained in practical cases, group work (based on the company's business processes), interactive games and discussions
Skills developed:
— Strategic environmental thinking — the ability to link the company's strategy to environmental objectives, process KPIs and sustainable development requirements
— The process approach — structuring and describing business processes taking the requirements of ISO 14001 into account
— Environmental risk management — mastering methods of identifying, analysing, evaluating and treating risks related to environmental impact
— Making management decisions based on quantitative assessment of environmental risks — improving the quality of environmental planning
— Auditing skills — conducting internal audits of the EMS in accordance with ISO 19011
— Evaluating EMS performance — monitoring KPIs and KRIs, analysing nonconformities and corrective actions
— Working with interested parties: taking into account the requirements of regulators, society and consumers when building the environmental management system
Using artificial intelligence tools — mastering the skills of applying AI for analysing, planning and documenting processes; participants are given a ready-made prompt that they can use independently in their further work
