Completing this course will broaden participants' knowledge of the environmental requirements for handling industrial waste, and introduce the innovations in the regulation of environmental protection relations provided for by the new Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan

1. Environmental requirements for handling production and consumption waste
   1. Types of waste and their classification (compared with the Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan of 09.01.2007).
   2. The waste classifier approved by order of the acting Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 314 of 6 August 2021: general characteristics, differences from the previous waste classifier.
   3. Waste holders, owners and generators: the relationship between the concepts, rights and obligations.
   4. Environmental requirements at the stages of waste handling (including the differences between the requirements for hazardous and non-hazardous waste):
      1. 1.4.1. waste collection;
      2. 1.4.2. waste accumulation;
      3. 1.4.3. waste transportation;
      4. 1.4.4. waste recovery;
      5. 1.4.5. waste disposal.
2. Environmental impact assessment:
   1. Brief overview of the foreign experience used in developing the EIA provisions of the Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan of 02.01.2021.
   2. The EIA procedure enshrined in the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
   3. Problems of applying the EIA legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the position of the authorised environmental protection body on these issues.
3. Requirements for conducting industrial environmental control:
   1. Procedure for developing industrial environmental control.
   2. Requirements for the content of the industrial environmental control programme.
   3. Requirements for the documents drawn up in the course of industrial environmental control.
   4. The rules for maintaining an automated system for monitoring emissions into the environment during industrial environmental control, approved by order of the Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 208 of 22 June 2021.
4. Environmental audit of operators and production facilities:
   1. Changes in legal regulation in connection with the adoption of the new Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
   2. Possibilities of using environmental audit results to protect the rights and legitimate interests of facility operators.
5. The equipment performance report:
   1. possibilities and conditions for obtaining and using equipment performance reports in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
